A remote product photo shoot allows a brand to ship its products directly to a photographer’s studio, where the photographer handles planning, styling, shooting, and editing without the client needing to attend in person.
If your brand needs new product photography, you don’t necessarily need to find a photographer in your city.
My remote product photo shoots allow you to ship your products directly to my studio in Denver, Colorado, while we plan and manage the entire shoot together from wherever you’re located.
Whether you need white-background e-commerce images, styled lifestyle photography, stop-motion content, or a mix of everything, the process is designed to be collaborative without requiring you to be physically present on set.
Here’s what a remote product photoshoot with me looks like from start to finish.
The first step in a remote product photoshoot is creating a clear plan for what needs to be photographed, how the images will be used, and how they should visually represent the brand.
When you do a remote photo session with me, each project starts with a discovery call.
We’ll get on a video call and talk through your brand, the products being photographed, and exactly what you need the final images to accomplish.
This is where we’ll discuss things like:
I also want to understand the bigger picture behind the project. What does your brand feel like? Who are you trying to reach? Are these images launching a new product, refreshing your website, supporting a campaign, or giving your brand more consistent content?
From there, I create a detailed shot list and determine what props, surfaces, backgrounds, talent, or other elements we’ll need to bring the shoot to life.
The goal is to make sure we’re aligned before a camera ever comes out.
Once we have the creative direction and shot list in place, I’ll let you know exactly what products need to be sent.
Depending on the project, I may recommend sending:
Having a few extras can be helpful for styling, product pours, ingredient shots, packaging cleanup, or simply making sure we have flexibility during the shoot.
You then ship your products directly to my studio in Denver, Colorado.
The number of products you should send depends on the type of photography being created. For some shoots, one or two units per SKU may be enough, while food, beverage, cosmetic, or styling-heavy shoots may require extra units or empty packaging.
After booking, I’ll provide shipping instructions for sending your products directly to my studio in Denver, Colorado.
Pre-production is everything that happens before the actual photoshoot to make sure the approved creative direction can be executed smoothly.
Before shoot day, I take care of the behind-the-scenes details needed to execute the project.
Depending on the scope, this can include sourcing props, backgrounds or surfaces, and coordinating talent.
We’ll also finalize the shot list so I know exactly what needs to be captured.
This is one of the most important parts of a remote product photoshoot.
By the time we get to shoot day, the creative decisions have already been made and we have a clear plan to work from.
Now comes the fun part.
Because we’ve already discussed the styling, creative direction, and shot list, you don’t need to spend the entire shoot day managing the process remotely.
I have the photography and styling covered.
For many clients, this means they can hand off the project and let me execute the approved direction while they focus on everything else they need to do.
If you prefer a more collaborative approach, we can also schedule a video call check-in during the shoot.
This gives you an opportunity to review progress, see how the images are coming together, and provide feedback while there’s still time to incorporate small adjustments.
You don’t have to be virtually on set all day to stay involved.
No. Many clients don’t attend at all. Because we’ve already established the shot list and creative direction, I can handle photography and styling independently. If you’d like to be more involved, we can schedule a video check-in during the shoot.
After the photoshoot is complete, I edit the images for color and consistency.
Depending on the project, more detailed retouching can also include things like:
Once everything is complete, your final product photography is delivered digitally within the timeline we discussed at the beginning of the project.
You’ll have polished, ready-to-use images that can be used across your website, social media, marketing campaigns, e-commerce platforms, sales materials, and more.
One of the advantages of remote product photography is that a wide range of content can be produced without your team needing to attend the shoot in person.
If you need clean, consistent images for your online store, I can photograph individual products, packaging, front and back views, product angles, and other e-commerce imagery against white or simple backgrounds.
These images work well for product detail pages, Shopify, Amazon, wholesale platforms, catalogs, and sales materials.
A remote product photoshoot can also include fully styled lifestyle photography.
Lifestyle product photography can include styled scenes, props, ingredients, hands, custom surfaces, backgrounds, and other visual elements that help give your products context and personality.
We’ll establish the styling direction during the planning process so the final images still feel cohesive with your brand.
I specialize in working with consumer product and CPG brands, including food, beverage, packaged goods, wellness, and other retail products.
A remote photoshoot can be especially useful for brands with multiple SKUs or products that need consistent imagery across a larger collection.
If you want to add movement to your content, remote shoots can also include stop-motion photography or short GIFs.
These can be used across websites, email marketing, social media, digital ads, and product launches to create a little more visual interest than a traditional still image.
Yes. As long as your products can be shipped, a remote product photoshoot lets you work with a photographer outside your local area.
After booking, your photographer should provide instructions for the number of units needed, shipping details, and whether backup products or empty packaging should be included.
Yes. We can establish feedback during pre-production and, if needed, schedule a video check-in during the shoot.
Timelines vary based on the number of products, image types, styling needs, and level of retouching. I’ll establish the project timeline during our intro and discovery calls.
